Testing Principle

The assay utilizes a latex-enhanced specific protein immunochemical reaction. Antibodies specific to alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) are coated onto the surface of latex particles. When mixed with the sample, AFP in the human serum reacts specifically with these coated antibodies, leading to agglutination and forming immune complexes. This immune agglutination scatters light under irradiation. The intensity of the scattered light is directly proportional to the concentration of AFP in the sample, which is measured quantitatively by a specific protein analyzer and calculated against a standard calibration curve.
