Detailed Information

Product Overview

The Antistreptolysin O (ASO) Test Kit is a clinical specific protein immunoassay designed for the quantitative determination of Antistreptolysin O (ASO) antibodies in human serum. Streptolysin 'O' is a highly immunogenic hemolytic toxin metabolized by Group A Beta-Hemolytic Streptococci. While low baseline ASO levels are normally present in healthy individuals due to environmental exposure, markedly elevated levels indicate a recent or active streptococcal infection. Measuring ASO levels is clinically invaluable for investigating post-streptococcal complications, such as acute rheumatic fever, glomerulonephritis, and scarlet fever.

Highlights & Key Benefits

  • Streptococcal Sequelae Diagnostic: Critical diagnostic tool to identify recent Group A Streptococcus infections and monitor serious post-streptococcal complications.
  • Latex-Enhanced Turbidimetric Assay: Uses specific Streptolysin 'O' antigens conjugated onto latex particles to trigger highly specific, rapid liquid-phase immune complex condensation.
  • Rapid and Reliable Output: Delivers precise quantitative clinical values in just 180 seconds (3 minutes).

Basic Parameters

  • Specimen: Serum
  • Test Time: 180 seconds (3 minutes)
  • Packaging: 25 Tests/Kit (Box size: 17 * 10 * 8 cm)
  • Storage Temperature: 2–8 °C
  • Shelf life: 1 year

Testing Principle

The assay utilizes a latex-enhanced specific protein immunochemical reaction. Highly purified Streptolysin 'O' antigens are conjugated onto the surface of latex particles. When mixed with the sample, Antistreptolysin O (ASO) antibodies present in the human serum specifically bind to these antigens, forming immune complexes via a latex condensation reaction. This immune agglutination scatters light under irradiation. The intensity of the scattered light is directly proportional to the concentration of ASO in the sample, which is measured quantitatively by a specific protein analyzer and automatically calculated against a standard calibration curve.
