Testing Principle

The assay utilizes a latex-enhanced specific protein immunochemical reaction. Antibodies specific to amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) are coated onto the surface of latex particles. When mixed with the sample, NT-proBNP present in the human serum specifically binds to these coated antibodies, leading to agglutination and forming immune complexes. This immune agglutination scatters light under irradiation. The intensity of the scattered light is directly proportional to the concentration of NT-proBNP in the sample, which is measured quantitatively by a specific protein analyzer and automatically calculated against a standard calibration curve.
